Her Excellency Genevieve A. Kennedy, Ambassador of the Republic of Liberia to the Court of St. James’s , paid a courtesy call on the Right Honourable Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, at the Speaker’s House, Westminster.
The meeting underscored the longstanding and cordial relations between the Republic of Liberia and the United Kingdom. Both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including trade, development, and multilateral engagement.
The Rt. Hon. Speaker commended Liberia’s active role on the international stage, particularly its election to the United Kingdom’s commitment to deepening engagement with African partners through its strategic initiatives, aimed at fostering sustainable and mutually beneficial partnerships.
Discussions also highlighted the steady growth in bilateral trade, which currently exceeds £100 million, with both sides expressing a strong interest in expanding economic collaboration in alignment with Liberia’s national development priorities under the ARREST agenda.
H.E. Ambassador Kennedy conveyed the Government and people of Liberia’s profound appreciation for the United Kingdom’s support, including it’s critical assistance during the Ebola crisis and continued contributions to Liberia’s successful bid to the United Nations Security Council and its commitment to capacity-building initiatives.
The meeting concluded with both parties photographed beside their National flags, the Lonestar and the Union Jack, respectively. The Ambassador was then requested to honour the occasion by signing the official Guest Book to commemorate her visit to the Speaker’s House. Before her departure, Ambassador Kennedy was also photographed on the Parliamentary Grounds of Westminster in front of a hoisted Lonestar fluttering in the wind.
