Liberia Celebrates Women’s Leadership at “Voices of Power” Awards Hosted by Embassy of Mexico in London

The Embassy of Liberia in the United Kingdom was honoured to participate in the “Voices of Power: Women Leading the Way” awards ceremony, hosted by the Embassy of Mexico in London. The prestigious event celebrated the extraordinary contributions of women across diplomacy, governance, civil society, and business—spotlighting the global impact of women in leadership roles.
The event gathered diplomats, leaders, and advocates from across the UK and the international community, all united in a shared vision: to elevate and celebrate the powerful voices of women shaping a more inclusive and equitable world.
Representing the Embassy of Liberia, Her Excellency Ambassador Genevieve A. Kennedy joined fellow dignitaries and guests in applauding the achievements of women who have broken barriers and led with purpose. In her remarks, Ambassador Kennedy reflected on Liberia’s proud legacy of women’s leadership—most notably the election of Her Excellency Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa’s first female president and a global symbol of women’s potential in leadership.
“Liberia is a nation that understands the strength of women,” said Ambassador Kennedy. “From villages to the presidency, Liberian women continue to lead, to heal, and to inspire. It is a privilege to stand with sister missions and partners tonight to honour their voices.”
The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the shared responsibility among nations to support gender equality and ensure that women are empowered at every level of society. The Embassy of Liberia commends the Embassy of Mexico for its leadership in creating this meaningful platform and for championing the advancement of women through diplomacy and recognition.
