One Nation. One People.
London, United Kingdom – 11th July 2025
The Embassy of the Republic of Liberia in the United Kingdom is pleased to report that Her Excellency Genevieve A. Kennedy, Ambassador of the Republic of Liberia to the Court of St James’s, participated in a high-level Ambassadors’ Townhall convened by Lord Collins of Highbury, Minister for Africa, the United Nations, Human Rights and Multilateral Affairs.
The gathering, held at the invitation of Lord Collins, brought together heads of diplomatic missions from across Africa to engage in an open and constructive dialogue on the future of UK–Africa trade and partnership. The central purpose of the townhall was to explore how the United Kingdom can better support trade facilitation and investment opportunities across the African continent through strategic engagement with African governments and private sector stakeholders.
Her Excellency welcomed the initiative and used the occasion to underscore Liberia’s strong interest in expanding its trade footprint in the UK market. She highlighted Liberia’s growing potential in sectors such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries, mining, tourism, and maritime logistics, and emphasized the need for trade access that supports inclusive growth and long-term economic sustainability.
In his remarks, Lord Collins of Highbury reiterated the United Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with African nations, noting that trade is a vital pillar of modern diplomacy and development. He affirmed that the UK is actively exploring ways to enhance its trade policy tools, support capacity-building initiatives, and unlock private sector investment that can drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
The townhall also provided a platform for African ambassadors to share perspectives, identify barriers to market access, and propose new channels for engagement with UK institutions and investors.
The Embassy of Liberia views this dialogue as a timely and valuable step toward deeper commercial cooperation, and commends the UK Government’s effort to ensure that African diplomatic voices are central to shaping future trade policy frameworks.
